The head of the CAME (Argentine Confederation of Medium-Sized Enterprises), Alfredo González, explained to Clarín the scope of the recently made official “Cuota Simple” program, which will replace the Ahora 12 plan starting February 1st. “This program is very welcome, taking into account that retail consumption is slowing down”.
This Wednesday, the Government made the initiative official through Resolution 7/2024, published in the Bulletin. In this way, the Ministry of Economy created the “Program to promote the consumption and production of goods and services” with “financing facilities”.
The program will extend to the whole country and It will come into force next Thursday, February 1st 2024. The Ministry of Commerce will be the body that will determine the forms and types of Simple Fee financing.
This is a new financing program that changes the number of installments, now giving the possibility of financing in three and six cards at a preferential interest rate, which has not yet been confirmed and is in the initiative phase.
The financing percentage still under discussion between the Ministry of Commerce, companies and banks would be approximately 77% nominal per year. “It would be 85% of the interest rate set by the Central Bank”The head of CAME in Clarín said this a few days ago.
Negotiations to launch the new program began earlier this month by Commerce Secretary Pablo Lavigne. Last week, the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC) He asked the official to extend the program which will end on January 31.
As regards consumption, the CAME manager indicated that in the month of December “there was a very marked contraction, of 20%” taking into account that it is the month in which people have the greatest availability of money. In this sense, González added that he hopes that this behavior will be reversed in the coming months. “Everything will depend on the stability of macro variables“he acknowledged.
The measure comes at a time when basket prices have increased in all sectors. The nine main items show varied average growth, however, this price growth is accentuated in the following items: food and soft drinks, education, health, household equipment and miscellaneous goods and services.
With just over a month to go before the start of the school year, the measure will also facilitate the purchase of consumables and library items, as well as clothing, footwear, educational services, monitors and books.
