With a decree published this Monday in the Official Journal, Central Bank President Santiago Bausili has added three directors to his staff and in this way he left the formation of the “table” of the monetary authority almost complete. The new officials are two economists and a lawyer, close to the government of former president Mauricio Macri and at the center of the central banker’s trust.

In the same communication, the Central Bank made the designation of the Pedro Inchauspe, Nicolás Ferro and Silvina Rivarola, who will sit down to make the agency’s decisions from this week. These three appointments, like those of last December, are in commission, therefore they must be approved by the national Senate. Both Inchauspe, Ferro and Rivarola have in principle a mandate until December 23 next year.

According to Clarín, a new designation could occur in the coming weeks and so Bausili would have a “full” board of directors for the rest of the year.

Who is Pedro Inchauspe

Inchauspe He was Secretary of Production Simplification at the Ministry of Production directed by Francisco Cabrera in first phase of Mauricio Macri’s government and belonged to the group of Ignacio Pérez Riba, then head of cabinet of the ministry. Before the presidential inauguration, he dreamed of running the customs, but will eventually occupy a seat on the central council. Inchauspe is a man close to Bausili himself.

Who is Silvina Rivarola

The appointment with the greatest political weight is that of the lawyer Silvina Rivarola. During government of Mauricio Macri, Rivarola had been part of the UIF, although it is his personal background rather than his curricular background that generates some noise. Rivarola is married to former prosecutor José Barbaccia, one of those accused of covering up the AMIA attack together with former judge Juan José Galeano.

Who is Nicolas Ferro

Finally, the economist Nicolás Ferro completes the list. Ferro worked for more than 24 years in the banking sector at JP Morgan, where he had met Central’s second vice president, former YPF CFO, Alejandro Lew.

This way, The Central Council gains seven councilors, all close in some way to the Bausili-Caputo duo. In December, in addition to Lew, the Executive had approved the appointment of the lawyers Marcelo Griffi, who had been part of the Ministry of Finance during the Caputo era in the Macri government; Agustín Pesce, who had previously worked at Central and was director of the Financial Information Unit (UIF); and Juan Curuchet, who had been president of Banco Provincia, during the government of María Eugenia Vidal and had shared the presidency of Banco Ciudad with Federico Sturzenegger.
