The rains of the previous weeks allowed the soil profiles to be recharged and new plots of soya to be planted. For this reason, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (BCBA) has changed the estimate of the area planted with soybeans in Argentina, adding 200,000 hectares. Therefore, the area of \u200b\u200bthis legume has expanded 17.3 million hectares and, as a result, the production projection has been raised to 52.5 million tons.

This is good news for the national government, which will be able to get more foreign exchange in the form of export duties on the soybean complex for the state coffers thanks to this larger harvest. The dollar is undoubtedly fundamental to the country’s economy.

However, the BCBA has clarified that “to support this production, future rainfall will be necessary, which will have a fundamental role in overcoming the critical phases of defining the yield and, consequently, those of greater water demand, which if they did not occur could impact in our current projection.”

To date, approximately 17 million hectares of soybeans have been planted in the national agricultural area, 98.4% of the expected 17.3 million hectares, after a weekly progress of 1.2 percentage points.

Thanks to the good water condition of the soil, the crops are proceeding in good general conditions, although in recent days the high temperatures typical of summer and the lack of precipitation have caused a slight deterioration of some plots. According to the BCBA, 90% of oilseed fields nationwide have water conditions between adequate and optimal. Meanwhile, the normal to excellent range dropped by 6 points to 92%, with 14% of crops going through the pod forming stage.
