Which foods and cleaning products increased the most in January?

In January, food prices increased by an average of 20.4%, mainly due to the smallest increase in meat prices compared to Decemberitem that also has a very high weight or weight in the general index.

The INDEC revealed that January inflation was 20.6%, while the year-on-year figure was 254.2%.

In bread and cereals the average increase was 23.6%, with table bread increasing by 43.03% against 38.36% in December.

Coffee, tea, yerba and cocoa increased by an average of 35.5%. But coffee recorded an increase of 70.45% when in December it had grown by 40.65%.

In the cleaning and toiletries sector, increases were significant. Some examples are:

-Powdered laundry soap in January 43.57% versus 39.43% in December.

-Shampoo 57.09% versus 48.27% in December.

-Deodorants 47.64% compared to 33.01% in December.

-Toilet soap 40.72% versus 38.35%.

-Disposable diapers 65.32% in January compared to 45.77% in December.

In the month of January, prepaid installments increased on average by 38.8%. And public passenger transport 26.5%, in both cases higher percentages than in December. In February this item will have a much higher increase compared to the previous 2 months.

For its part, year-on-year inflation in January was 254.2% versus 211.4% in December and the value of the family poverty basket increased from 225.1% year-on-year in December to 264, 9% in January. It will certainly increase again in February because a year ago that month recorded a single-digit increase in both indicators and this year it is expected to reach 2-digits.

With interannual increases of more than 300% are soft drinks (342.3%), natural water (313%), beer (307%), coffee (379.5%), grass (332.2 %), rice (933%), minced meat (362%) and roast (329%).
