This is indicated by the survey by Manpower, one of the leaders in temporary work, on net employment expectation (ENE), the difference between jobs created and jobs destroyed. This expectation yields 1%, thus demonstrating a decrease of 1 percentage point in the quarterly comparison and a decrease of 14 percentage points in the year-over-year comparison.
In this way Argentina places itself in the worst place in the world rankings behind Israel, which is experiencing a war and well below the regional average where companies expect a net average expectation of 22%.
The Information Technology sector leads the sample with the most solid intentions an ENE of +11%. The region showing the strongest hiring expectation is Northeast Argentina (NEA) with +5%, while Patagonia -11% signals the weakest intentions. Fieldwork was carried out between 2 and 31 January 2024.
In Argentina, the results reveal it 33% of employers interviewed plan to increase staff, 32% to reduce it, 30% do not plan to make changes and the remaining 5% do not know if they will, which gives a seasonally adjusted ENE of +1% for the second quarter of 2024.
Luis Guastini, CEO of Man-power in Argentina, underlines that in seven out of ten companies difficulties in finding talent continue. And you can see that the turnover is high.
