Xerox Holdings Corporation, which is “in a journey of reinvention”as stated in the press release, it will transfer its activities to him in both South American countries to the Datco Group.

The Argentine company, whose main business is Silica Networks, a wholesale fiber optic network, will add 270 employees with the new acquisition, for a total of 800 people in 7 countries.

Founded by entrepreneur Horacio Martínez 40 years ago, Datco will become an “exclusive partner” and responsible for the marketing, distribution and support of Xerox products and solutions.

The North American company, born as synonymous with photocopier, is now dedicated to printers and supplies (from home office equipment to large laser and multifunction machines and scanners) and expanded into software and services.

“In all geographies, we trust our partners to help advance the channel and accelerate growth for our customers, making them more productive and successful,” said John Bruno, Xerox president and chief operating officer.

“Grupo Datco has a proven track record of providing customers with the software and services they need to succeed We look forward to working alongside them. while we do the transition of our operations in Argentina and Chile to a partner-led model to support this effort.

After the sale of the company, the new companies will operate as independent entities. Datco Group will continue to support Xerox devices previously sold in Argentina and Chile and will become that brand’s exclusive partner in those markets. Therefore, the brand will continue to maintain a presence in the region.

Horacio Martínez, who is also executive director of Grupo Datco, stated that workforce, and highlighted the company he founded’s experience in acquiring companies. The company founded in 1981 has grown with the acquisition of companies such as Winstar, Velocom, Via Networks, Silica Argentina and Chile and AOL Argentina.

“We will try to maintain the business without major changes, both in terms of human resources and organisation, and in terms of commercial management, customer relations and the distribution network that Xerox has successfully built over the last few years,” Martinez explained.

Regarding the evolution that Datco has had over the last 40 years, the entrepreneur added: “We have gone from amphibian to reptile, from reptile to mammal and from mammal to homo sapiens. Today we take a new evolutionary step by adding the Xerox business to our company in Argentina and Chile”.

Datco is present in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Uruguay. It was founded in 1981.
