Rural protests are intensifying, multiplying in various provinces and localities, in a context in which the State tries to cover fiscal gaps with the resources generated by agricultural activity, while producers resist and warn that “adjustment” must be made political .”
This message was launched by the Liaison Table at the beginning of the week, in the midst of the increase in the value of the Buenos Aires Rural Tax promoted by the governor Axel Kicillof but also as a strong criticism of the creation of “taxes or tariffs that are also creating in some municipalities of different provinces”.
The 4 bodies CRA, SRA, FAA and Coninagro signed a statement in which they reiterate their rejection “of the creation of taxes or duties, only to increase revenues instead of rationalizing public spending”.
As the days passed, the situation worsened and multiplied, in Azul, Pehuajó, Salliqueló, Tres Lomas, in all the associations of the north of Buenos Aires gathered in the Necochea assembly, and also in Entre Ríos.
Nicolás Pino, head of the SRA, said on Thursday: “They left us with a noose around our necks. Tax pressure, market intervention, exchange rate differentials and indiscriminate increases, among other factors, have put the provincial economy and rural roots under scrutiny.”
Finally, the Board of Directors of the Confederation of Rural Associations of Buenos Aires and La Pampa (Carbap) has decided to act before the Executive, Legislative and Judicial powers of Buenos Aires against “the abusive and confiscatory increase in the real estate and automotive sector”. tax carried out by the province of Buenos Aires.”
The body asked Kicillof to review the status of the items and asked for the unilaterally eliminated discounts for 2024, such as the good taxpayer discount and automatic debit membership, to be restored to their 2023 status
Carbap also requires compliance with the Buenos Aires Legislature’s approved limit of a 200% increase, under which the taxpayer must pay no more than 200% between the 2023 and 2024 elections.
On the other hand, the body asks to establish a limit on parcels whose tax base exceeds 198,900,900 pesos. Likewise, it calls for the sharp increases expressed in the additional property tax to be reviewed.
As for the Legislator, Carbap asks him to act to modify the tax law “from the letter of which abusive tax amounts have been generated that ignore its spirit and approved limits”.
On a judicial level, “producers will be exempt from carrying out the protective actions required by law against these abuses, as has been carried out in several cases in the province”.
The body, which has historically conducted complaints in the field, has decided that “if solutions to the problems raised are not found before May, producers will be asked to eliminate electronic payment or automatic debit of tickets. If he has to choose between producing and paying abusive taxes, the producer will always choose to produce.”
