In total, the number of people with registered employment in the social security system (including public and private wage employment, self-employment and monotributist) reached 12,510,163. This is a record number.

There are 42,449 more employed than in December 2021. And 551,253 more than in February 2021, according to the Ministry of Labor Report based on information from the administrative records of the Argentine Integrated Social Security System (SIPA). In February 2020 – before the pandemic – they added 12,106,882. The series will begin in January 2012, with 10,897,074.

In January-February, registered wage employment in the private sector grew by 69,192 workers compared to December 2021, which added a total of 6,089,256. A year ago, there were 5,872,011 and it also exceeded 6,028,392 in February 2020, before the outbreak of the pandemic.

“In all months of the year 2021 and up to February 2022, positive rates of variation were observed in registered employment.. This dynamic of the formal wage labor market has made it possible to exceed the level of employment implemented before the pandemic began (February 2020) ”, says the Labor Report.

however, this is still far from 6,308,065 registrations in February 2018 before the recession started and triggered inflation.

Wage earners in the public sector reached 3,309,697 compared to 3,318,386 in December 2021. But it exceeded 3,215,865 in February 2021.

Meanwhile, little has been added to the records of Casas Particulares workers: from 475,826 in December 2021 to 476,428 in February 2022.

Monotributistas (1,805,695) rose in two months by approximately 20,000 and self-employed (387,358) by approximately 3,000, and social monotributistas by 431,730), about 1,600 compared to December.

The industry registered an increase of 0.2% in February, accumulating 21 consecutive months of employment growth, which reached a level of formal employment similar to December 2018.

In relation to the pre -pandemic levels (February 2020), 18 provinces have recovered from these levels. Among those who showed the greatest dynamism were Tierra del Fuego (+9.1%), Catamarca (+6.7%), Formosa (+6.3%), Misiones (+6.1%), San Luis (+4.6%), Chaco (+ 3.6%)%), and Río Negro (+3.5%). Among the group of provinces that did not get jobs in February 2020 were Mendoza (-2.2%), CABA (-2.0%), Salta (-1.2%), Neuquén (-1.1%), Jujuy (-0.8%) , and Chubut (-0.3%) ”, according to the Labor Report.
