Aeroparque Jorge Newbery will inaugurate next month a series of works already the physiognomy can be changed almost completely I have until before the pandemic.
Part of this work has been carried out since the beginning of 2020, when the remodeling of the main track and its equipment began. Now progress is being made on an investment plan for passenger areas, for 70 million dollars.
The investment is for ang both provided by private concessionaires Argentina Airport 2000 as well as the Regulatory Body of the National Airport System (ORSNA), one of the state agencies that, along with Aerolineas Argentinas and the ramp company Intercargo, is under the group’s political control The Campora.
The works that will be ready for the winter vacation season at the Aeroparque are as follows:
- Improvements will be made in the area of the check-in counters and in the area where foodtrucks are currently outside to make the movement of people more seamless, achieving more comfortable spaces.
- The Vip Games Room will be expanded and remodeled.
- in gastronomy there will be 15 openings and 11 new brands.
- Demolition of Building C (in front of the uncovered parking lot) This will allow the implementation of the new north platform that will allow the operation of Class E aircraft.

- In June, new parking will be enabled, already 620 garage distributed on 2 levels (basement). This work was done on land reclaimed from the Río de la Plata in front of the airport.
- The new parking lot in turn will allow for reform in the sector where the North uncovered parking lot is now. In this space, it is planned to build two new positions for the aircraft (one of the main drawbacks that Aeroparque now registers is the limited number of places for overnight planes), which will replace the currently called 1 and 2, allowing taxiways to be cleaned.
- After the winter holidays, work will begin on new roads that will shift the waterfront towards the river and allow better traffic management at the entrance to the passenger terminal, with new interior streets to distribute vehicles at different entry points to the terminal. This work is scheduled for next year: according to AA2000, “it will be carried out in stages without affecting the operation of the airport.” It is expected to be completed in the first half of 2023.
Aeroparque’s comprehensive plan began in mid -2020, in the midst of a pandemic, with runway extensions and improvements for large aircraft, which transformed the air station category. When domestic and international flights resumed in March last year, the runway already had the dimensions and technology necessary to operate there using double-aisle planes.
Those activities are as follows:
- The Jorge Newbery Airport runway, with a total length of 2,100 meters, added 250 meters to the south and 340 meters to the north (590 meters), now reaching a length of 2,690 meters. In addition, it was extended by 20 meters.
- The renovation includes the installation of a new beacon system for takeoffs and landings. The new system is of high intensity, in the international category “Operational Category III”. A new landing instrument system (ILS CAT. III) is also integrated to operate in low visibility conditions.
- The International sector has been reconfigured for Aerolinea Argentinas regional flights, as well as other international airlines scheduled to land at Aeroparque.
- Pre-boarding is adapted to receive enough passengers for up to six flights per hour. Of the 3 Airport Security Police scanners, 6 double immigration boxes were added, with a total of 12 positions, including 5 e-gates.
- As part of these changes, a hybrid boarding gate sector remained: two of the pre-boarding gates, 15 and 16, could be used as flex positions, via sliding glass partitions similar to those installed. at Córdoba airport. .
- The international pre-boarding already has three gastronomic venues: Fausto, Florida Garden and Outback (the second in Argentina, after opening in 2019 in Ezeiza).
- The International Arrivals sector has been expanded with 800m2 of surface along with refunctionalization, covering an estimated surface of 4,630m2. The 1,211m2 migration sector remains. And the 3 baggage carousels are separated to provide more comfort, with an area of 773m2.
- The Customs sector has quintupled its surface, leaving an office area and a sector of 1,200m2. The public international arrivals area now consists of an 887m2 hall, which includes the new Havanna location, with a seating area overlooking the river (on the outer curve towards the north parking lot).
