The airline industry is calling for the removal of all Covid travel-related restrictions that still apply to Latin American and Caribbean countries, including testing requirements, the need to present a certificate and even in some cases, the approval of the complete vaccination schedulefill out a passenger locator form (PLF) and proof of coronavirus insurance. This includes abandoning the use of the mask when traveling within countries or between countries. where it is no longer necessary in interior spaces.

Covid-19, and specifically the Omicron variantis now prevalent throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and Population immunity is at such a level that the risk of hospitalization or death is drastically reduced, especially for the vaccinated. States use surveillance techniques to ensure public health, as they do with other coronaviruses and infectious diseases.

Many countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have already removed internal restrictions caused by the virus, such as the requirement to present health credentials to enter social events, or the requirement to wear a mask in public spaces. Contact tracking measures are also eliminated, making PLFs unnecessary for international travel. As these countries open up and remove restrictions, it stands to reason that they no longer apply to air travel as well..
