Between the tension within the government after the departure of Matías Kulfas and the opposition’s questions about the announcement of the “unexpected income” taxation project, the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, closed the meeting with the main entrepreneurs of the country gathered in the Argentine Business Association (AEA), which celebrates 20 years.

The minister began with a presentation in which he reviewed the main variables of the economy, then moved on to questions from the head of the EEA, Jaime Campos.

In his presentation, Guzmán stated that “for the state to have strength, the first thing is to have greater sustainability from the external point of view”, so he concluded that “Argentina needs to accumulate reserves”.

“Argentina cannot abandon the path of building a stronger currency”, underlined the minister, who said that “all the dollarization proposals make no sense”.

The meeting began with a recorded message from President Alberto Fernández, who invited businessmen to “understand the dimension of the problem” that is going through the country.

“I hope to be able to count on businessmen and I hope that Argentine businessmen understand the dimension of the problem we are experiencing as part of the world that we are,” the head of state underlined in his opening message.

In this context, Alberto Fernández underlined: “The opportunities that are given to us are not opportunities for one, but they are opportunities for all those who inhabit the Argentine land”.

Under the slogan “The private sector is the key factor for development”, the day for the 20th anniversary of the EEA also saw presentations by businessmen Alfredo Coto (Coto), Alberto Hojman (BGH), Héctor Magnetto (Grupo Clarín) and Luis Pagani (Arcor Group).

The second jury was made up of Federico Braun (La Anónima), Martín Migoya (Globant), Carlos Miguens (Grupo Miguens) and Paolo Rocca (Grupo Techint).

The Argentine Business Association was founded in May 2002 by the owners of the most important companies in the country with the aim of “promoting the economic and social development of Argentina from a private entrepreneurial point of view”.
