Landmark will occupy the premises of the Unicenter where the Chilean Falabella was staying.
The mega local of 6000 square meters that it occupied until before the pandemic the Chilean department store Falabella, in the Unicenter, already has a new tenant. This is Landmark, an Argentine design and “lifestyle” company that is now opening its first “large format” store, organized according to the concept of “department store”. In total, the company has nine stores, located in different parts of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.
“There is an audience that has always been loyal to Falabella” and feels the absence of this offer in the mall. “That’s why we try to accommodate that request,” said Federico Arslanian, Landmark’s general manager and nephew of the former Minister of Justice of the Nation. It was during the tour that he did with a group of reporters before the store opened.
Although this is the aspiration of the company, the assortment offered by the company is oriented to home decoration and other items such as lighting, decoration, dining room, carpets, bazaar, gifts, white and textiles, among others, but does not sell clothing or footwear.
However, Landmark’s idea is to become the “local anchor” of the largest shopping mall in Argentina, located in the city of Martinez. The majority shareholders of the company, founded in 2015, belong to an Argentine group linked to the marketing of Mihran carpets, also present in the new headquarters located on the first level of the shopping center. The shop it required a total investment of $ 650 million.
In total, the group has five carpet stores and four under the Landmark brand. This latest opening, within the “Landmark Stores” format, includes a space (Land by Landmark) intended for more exclusive and high-priced products and also a segment (Studio Landmark) aimed at providing advice to design professionals and great audience. Also a bar run by the famous chef Martín Molteni.
Federico Arslanian, general manager of Lankmark.
This inauguration is part of an expansion plan for the company, which includes the export of the products it produces (furniture, chairs and tables, among others) to other markets in the region such as Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. It does so through global investment funds specializing in retail and through its network of “coolhunters”, dedicated to detecting trends in major world markets. Indeed, Landmark has already started exporting to Mexico, chairs, leather and wood (missionary).
Although Landkmark originally had 80% of its products imported, today that equation is 30% imported and 70% national manufacturing which carries out in its factory located in Tortuguitas, Malvinas Argentinas. This factory has been in operation since January, required an investment of $ 250 million, and employs 60 people.
Regarding the company’s movement in the context of the ups and downs of the local economy, Arslanian stressed that “despite the political instability, we are still betting on the recovery of the country. In this sense, the war in Russia and Ukraine implies a short-term opportunity, ”the executive said.
Regarding the prospects for sales, in a place with such refined and exclusive merchandise, the director assured that “the Stores” have a space where products are available at cheaper prices. And in this sense, he has ensured that these values they will not be highlighted until August since they have been able to buy a good stock. For now, for the coming weekend, which includes Father’s Day, the mall expects to visit around 50,000 people.
