Bombardier’s big boss, Éric Martel, met directly with the union’s negotiating committee representing its 1,800 workers at the Dorval and Saint-Laurent factories, on Friday, along with the management negotiating committee.
The meeting went smoothly, equally friendlyreported Éric Rancourt, business agent responsible for the file with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), which is affiliated with FTQ.
In Mr. Martel’s presence, the company’s leadership made a final and global offer, which the union will explain to its members on Monday.
IAMAW does not want to disclose content, preferring to keep the scoop for its members, as often happens in such instances.
1,800 union members will be called to vote on this offer next Wednesday. The union will not make recommendations to its members; he will let them choose freely, Mr. Rancourt said.
It should be noted that this is the second final and global offer presented by Bombardier to its 1,800 workers.
Union members went on a one -day strike on Monday, before returning to work and resuming negotiations. They already have an indefinite general strike mandate.
