However, on this occasion, there would be no cascading effect on car manufacturers as happened last week, when Renault and Nissan had to stop the production of the pick-ups they assembled in Cordoba for two days.

The measure of force was decided by the Tire union (Sutna), who asks for the renewal of the salary contract with a raise 5% above inflationas well as an increase in hours worked on weekends: the union it heads Alessandro Crespo asks to go up from 100% more that is currently paid, to a 200%.

All those claims are firm to the future: it happens that the current joint venture between Sutna and the Tire Industry Chamber, where the three manufacturers come together, It remains in effect until 30 June.

Although the salary contract has not expired, for more than a month the union has been specifying measures of force, with this statement as the only banner.

The Ministry of Labor decreed compulsory conciliation at the beginning of the measures and, once the legal term of this instrument expired, summoned the parties to the conciliation hearing. none were successful until now.

The measures began on May 17 with a four-hour strike in the three plants and continued with six full-time strikes (20 and 26 May, 3, 6, 9 and 16 June). This Tuesday will be the seventh.

So far, the parties have shown no intention of bring positions closer. The union did not move from his claim and indeed intensified its protest: it went from demonstrations at the doors of the factories to clarify cuts to the Pan-American and Congress last week.

The three manufacturers, for their part, operate under the aegis of the Chamber of the Tire Industry. Since that entity they made their offer three weeks ago, with no changes since: a salary improvement of 66%effective from 1 July, ea link unpaid, in addition to the current bonus of 100%, for hours worked on weekends.

Although they respond to very different shareholders (Bridgestone is from JapanesePirelli Italian and fate is controlled by the local family Madane Quintanilla), the three companies have moved in the last few weeks like a block.

But the series of vigorous measures is already having some impact towards its main customers, the car factories.

Last week Renault and Nissan ran out of tires for two days for their Alaskan and Frontier pickups, which they assemble on the same production line at Renault’s Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba.

During Tuesday and Wednesday, the 1,000 workers affected by these patterns have been suspended.

For this week, however, Renault have insured him the supply is ensured. Other directors four automobile terminals.

Strictly speaking, one of those directors said that the Government began to give a more agile impulse to everyone tire import orders from car factories.

“Usually, tires need non-automatic type approvals, especially those models and sizes which are produced in the country. But for some weeks the Secretary of Industry has approved immediately all import orders we do, “said the manager.
