The Total Basic Basket (CBT) recorded an increase of 4.6% in May, so much so that a family unit made up of two adults and two minors needed to have an income of $ 99,677 to stay below the poverty line. In April, the increase was 6.7%.

The data comes from the monthly report released this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec).

According to the report, the year-over-year increase, compared with the same month last year, was 54.7%.

The CBT measures the prices of the family basket plus those corresponding to non-food goods and services, while the CBA calculates the values ​​of the products considered essential to guarantee the essential kilocaloric and protein standards.

On the other hand, the Basic Food Basket (CBA) posted a 4.6% increase compared to the previous month, e 62.3% compared to a year ago. Also, settle down $ 14,401 the line that marks poverty.

May inflation at 5.1%

On Tuesday last week, INDEC also released data on inflation, which in May 2022 was 5.1%, a high but lower number than in previous months. The interannual variation was thus reached 60.7%the highest number since 1992.

Over the year, the increase in the consumer price index (CPI) reached 29.3%. Health (6.2) and transport (6.1) were the items that increased the most in the monthly measurement and, according to the statistics agency, the increase in health services is due to the increase in collections.
