With Resolution 5221/2022 published today in the Official Gazette, AFIP has extended the reimbursement of 15% until the end of the year when they are retired, minimum wage retirees and AUH and Pregnancy Allowance recipients shopping with debit cards associated with social security benefits. And it raised the limit from $ 1,200 to $ 2,028 per month. It represents a 69% increase and reaches purchases of up to $ 13,520 per month.

The redemption limit rises from 2,400 to $ 4,057 for universal allowance holders with 2 or more children.

According to the government, the reimbursement is received by over 2,000,000 people each month.

The benefit covers purchases made in pharmacies, nearby shops, mini, super and hypermarkets, kiosks and shops, and consists in the reimbursement of 15% of the total amount of consumption made with the debit card through which the pension, pension or AUH / AUE is received.

AFIP clarifies that this benefit “It is not VAT refund” and therefore does not affect federal partnership.

The 15% refund on debit card purchases for the lowest income sectors was established in December 2019 by the Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation Law as a tool to improve the income of these sectors. So it was set at $ 700. In July 2021, it was raised to $ 1,200.

At the end of 2021, without updating the caps, AFIP extended the validity of the reimbursement until June 30, 2022, on the basis of “being an effective tool to provide assistance to the aforementioned sectors and encourage the use of electronic means of payment.” . And because it is a regime that “is financed with the budget allocated for this purpose by the Ministry of Economy and does not prejudice federal partnerships”.

The refund is automatic and is credited to the beneficiary’s account.
