Bulk purchases and one-hour delivery, two supermarkets' bets to boost sales

In this sense, Carrefour and DIA have recently announced their new projects.

The French chain will expand its business by opening new stores its “Maxi” format.. They present it as “a purchase option for families and small businesses who want to access a better price proposal by purchasing products by quantity without a minimum purchase”.

With three new branches in Ituzaingó, Escobar and Loma Hermosathe supermarket company tries to attract more customers to the new commercial areas of Greater Buenos Aires.

The openings, which involved an investment of $ 400 million, allowed the incorporation of 60 people to the more than 100 who already work in the working groups of the respective branches.

The Maxi format, inaugurated in 2011, has 13 branches distributed in three provinces: Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Mendoza.

In May, the Ituzaingó (with an area of ​​1,823 m2) and Escobar (1,380 m2) branches were inaugurated. This week the branch of Loma Hermosa is added, in the municipality of Tres de Febrero (1600 m2).

In addition to the Maxi, Carrefour has the branches Carrefour Express and the Bringo app (daily replacement), “Market” (smaller format for weekly purchases) and hypermarkets, with more assortment.

In less than an hour

For its part, DIA has launched Express Shipping, which promises shipments in less than an hour of the same assortment, prices and offers as the physical store.

The service is now available throughout the city of Buenos Aires and features a maximum of 15 units per order.

Consumers today demand more immediacy in their purchases and no need to plan ahead, they say in the chain, which has more than 925 stores, where they sell more than 1,000 DIA products, among other brands.

DIA also offers, like other chains, in-store pickup. More than 450 branches have already taken hold and, this year, another 200 points will be added to CABA. It also has same day home delivery.
