During the financial crisis of 2019, it was a common picture: Faced with a day of uncertainty in the foreign exchange market, savers have turned to making inquiries and trades in their banking and home banking apps and many of them have responded with falls. Some entities have gone so far as to incorporate the “virtual queue” system to handle the large number of visits they have seen in minutes.

This Monday, and in the midst of the financial stress it has created the blues jumped by over 30 dollars when the market opened, bank customers have encountered these messages again while attempting to perform their normal operations. And the complaints on social media were not long in coming. Santander, BBVA and Galicia appeared as trend topics on the Twitter social network, for dissatisfaction expressed by users.

In the main banks they have clarified that the problems to operate do not respond to the economic context and the uncertainty generated by the arrival of Silvina Batakis at the Ministry of Economy, but rather to a technical question: “When we believe that there may be more requests for online banking or a greater number of transactions, we put the queue online”they explained in a private institution.

“If they enter (to put a number) 100,000 people at a time, the whole system can crash and you pay no attention to anyone. The online queue allows you to manage your income, and that they are all manned without system crashes. That’s what it’s for, despite some unfounded criticism online, “they added.

Unlike what happened in 2019, today there are few savers who can buy the “solidarity dollar”. With the subsequent restrictions that Alberto Fernández’s government has established on the dollarization of savers, only 1 million workers can access the quota of $ 200 per month.

But, with the acceleration of the blue of the last few days and the leap that the informal change has struck today, solidarity seems tempting: is trading $ 65 cheaper than blue, which has already reached $ 280. This is why many savers want to try to see if they can buy the US currency on the official market and this puts pressure on the banks’ systems.
