In the central building of the General Administration of Ports, the controller of the AGP, José Beni, met the general secretary of the Union of dredging and embarked marking personnel, Juan Carlos Schmid and his deputy secretary, Hugo Godoy, and the directors of the ‘Association of personnel of the Argentine railways and ports management, Leonardo Salom, leader of the Association of Greens and Whites, and Diego Salom, Secretary General of the Puerto Capital Section.
The union leaders represent the two main branches of workers who carry out the tasks that allow the correct functioning of the Via Principale viable; APDFA, which represents the sector of professionals and port technicians; and dredging and marking. Everyone highlighted the importance of working together for the future, so they decided to form a coordination table on the activity.
During the meeting, they agreed on the need to undertake urgent work on the VNT system and the union leaders expressed their agreement with the action of the General Administration of Ports in the management of the so-called “Via d’Acqua”, they supported the The State’s proposal to expand the current extension of the Navigable Main Route, highlighted that the AGP has managed to support the service with efficiency and quality and has undertaken various projects to expand its infrastructure on a federal basis, such as the installation of hydrometers in Paraguay and Superior Paraná rivers and the investment in technology to have greater control over road activities.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders said that “the state must play a central role, relying on workers, as this leadership is doing, thinking about the federal development of port activity, because this guarantees more work and more exchanges in our country. “. In this sense, José Beni considered it “fundamental to have institutionalized the dialogue and joint work with the representatives of port workers, which is a pillar of our management and we have been faced with specific meetings”.
Furthermore, the urgency of modifying Decree 870 was highlighted, guaranteeing the existence of two terminals in the Port of Buenos Aires; the need to continue to bet on the development of human capital, highlighting the tasks of the National Port Training Center (CENCAPOR); The strong contribution of workers and the leading role of the Argentine business community in the transport sector for the promotion of production and foreign trade were highlighted.
