In the midst of a wave of rumors about how the government will handle the growing outflow of dollars for tourism and consumption overseas, the central bank decided Thursday to suspend installment financing in free stores.

Thus, the monetary authority eliminated taxes for all dollar expenses: in 2021 tolls and packages, last week door-to-door shipments and now purchases at airports.

As specified by the monetary authority in a note, “financial institutions and non-financial credit providers will not be able to finance their customers’ purchases in installments in: tickets abroad and tourist services abroad (such as accommodation, car rental, etc.); products abroad that are received via the non-commercial postal delivery system; and products in duty-free shops. “

Economy Minister Silvina Batakis said in a televised interview on Wednesday evening that “all measures will be taken to ensure that the reserves are transferred to the productive sectors”.
