Agreements with Vietnam for the export of pork and citrus fruits

Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero closed a visit to Vietnam, in which agreements were signed to expand the arrival of local products in the Asian country and open the pork and citrus market, according to official reports.

The Vietnamese authorities confirmed to Cafiero “the opening of the pork and sweet citrus market”, reads a note from the Foreign Ministry.

From the Asian country they assured that “negotiations on the sanitary, phytosanitary and regulatory framework will accelerate, to advance with the incorporation of new Argentine products, such as conservation technologies (silbag), machinery for the food and fruit industry”.

During his stay in Vietnam, Cafiero held bilateral meetings with the country’s top authorities, including the Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chính, the Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and the Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Hong Dien. .

Cafiero also brought the Vietnamese government’s commitment to a visit to Argentina by its president, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in 2023, the year in which the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations will be commemorated.

Cafiero highlighted the important role of Argentina in the development of the mining activity, in particular as regards the “lithium exploitation projects”, for the interest of the Vietnamese car manufacturer, VinFast, which is working on the launch of a line of electric cars.

Vietnam expects growth of 6% for this year, is the sixth trading partner of our country and is consolidated as a specific destination for expanding Argentine exports.

The main products exported from Argentina in 2021 were cereals (49.2%) and waste from the food industries (45.1%).

In the January-March period of this year, Argentina’s exports to Vietnam were $ 637.3 million, while imports totaled $ 347.7 million.
