The holidays are off to a bad start for many Transavia passengers. For several days now, a strike, called by the minority union SNPNC, has led to numerous flight cancellations.
Given the discontent of the passengers, the management of the Air France subsidiary apologized and specified, in a press release, the steps during the cancellation of a flight. This is what you need to remember.
• My flight has been cancelled, is there an alternative?
Transavia does offer an alternative “as far as possible” but “on another date or time” or even with “another company”.
In the absence of an alternative offer, the passenger may obtain a refund of the ticket.
• Am I required to accept this alternative?
No. In this case, the passenger can obtain a refund of the ticket. Please note that in case of a rerouting it is possible to find a solution yourself which will be reimbursed by Transavia.
• How do I get a refund for my ticket?
There is an online form to fill out on the Transavia website, which you can find at this link.
• Can I get additional compensation?
Yes. In case of cancellation, it is possible to obtain compensation in addition to the refund of the plane ticket. It is a European regulation that establishes the amount of compensation, depending on the duration of the flight.
– 250 euros for flights of less than 1500 km
– 400 euros for intra-community flights or flights from 1,500 to 3,500 km
– 600 euros for other flights of more than 3500 km
You must send your claim (by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt) to the airline’s customer service.
• Are accommodation expenses also reimbursed?
No, the company is not obliged to reimburse the expected expenses at the destination, such as rentals.
