In June, 84,807 businesses were created, an increase of 4% (-4.5% in May), driven by the new registrations of traditional businesses (8.2%) and, to a lesser extent, of micro-enterprises (1.3%) .
The increase affects all sectors except domestic services, with a slight decrease of 0.5%.
Industry was the most dynamic sector with a net increase of 13.4%, followed by commerce, in particular the segments of car repair (7.3% vs. -8.4% in May) and transport and storage (+ 8.9%).
In the financial activities and insurance sector, the sector that has grown the most in the last 12 months, 2,973 new companies have been created, which represents an increase of 6.6%.

“The accumulated number of companies created during the second quarter of 2022 decreased compared to the same quarter of the previous year,” INSEE also specifies. In question: the sharp drop in the creation of traditional individual companies (-15.3%).
Despite its recovery in June, the transport and storage sector, which includes, for example, home delivery, “is the one that contributes the most to the fall” in the quarter, says the institute. This had seen rapid development during the health crisis.
In the accumulated of the first 6 months of the year, 539,774 new companies were registered, 15,770 less than in the first two quarters of 2021.
In the last 12 months, the total number of companies created has also decreased (-2.9%).
The share of new businesses in business creation remained stable at 27.6%, ahead of traditional sole proprietorships (11.8%) but behind microenterprises (60.6%).
