10% of low cost TGV Ouigo passengers do not end up taking their train. SNCF launches this week Ouigoswap, a waiting list service to withdraw your tickets. How to use.

At a time when many French people are still looking for a train ticket for the summer holidays, SNCF launched its long-awaited waiting list service for low-cost Ouigo (TGV) trains on Monday.

The principle is simple. It allows you to try your luck if a low-cost TGV Ouigo is full, taking the seat of a traveler who has given up traveling. In fact, 10% of Ouigo travelers do not end up taking their train even though their tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

First come first served

Through a new verification option, offered on the Ouigo website and app, travelers who forgo their trip can register to offer their booked and purchased ticket. If you find a buyer, you will get back 80% of the price paid through your personal space.

At the same time, those who wish to travel in an Ouigo presented as full can – without obligation – register on a waiting list and will be offered the seats abandoned by those who have given up their trip. The first to arrive will be the first to be served.

If a seat becomes available, the customer will be contacted via email or notification (via the app or on OUIGO.COM). You can then purchase this seat on OUIGO.COM or on the OUIGO app.

For each train, registration on the waiting list is available until the day before the train leaves at 11:59 p.m. These lucky ones will then pay for their ticket “at full price”, that is, at full price.
