The pharmaceutical industry has agreed that medicines will rise below inflation.
The government has reached an agreement for Limit drug increases for the next 60 days and offer a basket of discounted medicines to people without health coverage. The announcement with the details will be this afternoon at the Casa Rosada, in an act that will be led by Alberto Fernández, the Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, the Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti and to whom the main rooms that group the laboratories ( CILFA, CAEME and COOPERALA).
The agreement provides that the remedies increase they are 1% below official inflation. Indeed, companies will refer to the CPI prepared by INDEC to establish the prices of the products, which “will be checked in the months of July, August and the first fortnight of September”.
In parallel, the government and industry (pharmacies and laboratories) plan to launch “Patient Care”a program that will offer a basket of discounted medicines for people without medical coverage.
“For the pharmaceutical sector, it represents a great economic effort in the face of the current macroeconomic conditions of the country, which will be shared between industry, drugstore and pharmacies, estimating that the proposal will have an impact for the sector above $ 6,000 million“The companies said so in a statement.
The initiatives were born after a series of meetings held by industry leaders with the Secretary of Commerce, Martín Pollera, and the Undersecretary for Medicines and Strategic Information of the Ministry of Health, Sonia Tarragona.
The meetings were attended, among others, by CAEME (representing foreign laboratories, including Roche, Pfizer, Bayer and Merck), CILFA (national companies such as Bagó, Roemmers and Richmond) and COOPERALA (cooperatives, SMEs and medium-sized enterprises).
