The government confirmed this Wednesday that it will announce new economic measures to contain the strong exchange rate tension that is going through the country, with a blue dollar that this Tuesday passed the 300 pesos barrier, and anticipated that it is being studied implement the “differentiated exchange rate” for tourists.
This was confirmed by the spokesman for the presidency Gabriela Cerruti during a press conference at Casa Rosada at the end of a new Cabinet meeting, as well as specifying that the new measures will be announced by the team of the Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, in the next days. .
Cerruti indicated that the Minister of Economy will lead a meeting with the economy cabinet tomorrow, in which “we go analyze different measures that could be released towards the end of this week or next week“.
The meeting, scheduled for this Thursday at 9 at the Palacio de Hacienda, will see the participation of ministers Daniel Scioli (Productive development), Claudio Moroni (Labor) and Matías Lammens (Tourism and Sport), in addition to the president of the Central Bank of the Republic Argentina, Miguel Ángel Pesce.
In this context, Cerruti reiterated that the so-called blue dollar “has no impact on the real economy” and stated that the government understands “the feeling of uncertainty generated by information around the blue dollar”.
