The business climate fell again in July, as a result of lower optimism in industry and services in a context of inflation, INSEE reported on Thursday.
The indicator that summarizes the business climate, obtained from a survey of business leaders, lost one point compared to June, standing at 103 points, still above its long-term average of 100, detailed the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies. .
Sales improvement
In construction, while business leaders “are a little less positive about their past activity,” they “remain optimistic about their activity for the next three months.”
The situation is more contrasted in the retail trade, with an improvement in the sale and repair of motor vehicles and a deterioration in the rest of the branches.
In wholesale trade, which INSEE surveys every two months, the situation is stable compared to May, and the institute highlights that the opinion of business leaders is improving “on the deliveries received from the ‘stranger and intentions to order’. Finally , the labor climate recovered somewhat in July after three consecutive months of decline, at 109 points, it is well above its long-term average.
