Great novelty for the French unicorn Qonto. La French fintech dedicated to the financial management of SMEs and the self-employed announces this Friday that it has entered into a firm share purchase agreement to acquire German fintech champion Penta. The transaction, the amount of which has not been disclosed, should be completed in the coming weeks.
Penta, founded in 2017, is the first financial management solution for SMEs and freelancers in Germany. The company has 50,000 clients across the Rhine and employs 200 people, mainly in Berlin and Belgrade.
A union with 300,000 clients
“The joining of forces of Qonto and Penta represents a great opportunity for both companies, which are looking to continue their expansion, not only in Germany, but also in other Qonto markets. They also share the same mission, the same culture and strong business models. ”, adds the fintech.
And remember that “from the beginning, the founders of Qonto, Steve Anavi and Alexandre Prot, had the ambition to build a pan-European brand”.
The company currently serves more than 250,000 customers in four markets (France, Germany, Italy and Spain) and employs 700 people. In 2021, Germany was the fastest growing market for Qonto, with a 170% increase in customer base compared to 2020.
Together, Qonto and Penta create a European leader in corporate financial management. It will have more than 300,000 customers and 900 employees.
Let us remember that Qonto made a new fundraising of 486 million euros last January, thus raising its valuation to 4,400 million euros.
