The German company Condor has ordered 41 aircraft of the A320 family from Airbus to continue modernizing its fleet with aircraft that consume less fuel and therefore emit less CO2, both companies announced on Monday.
The order is for 13 A320s and 28 A321s, a version of the aircraft capable of carrying more passengers. Including aircraft purchased directly from the aircraft manufacturer and others leased, it amounts to around 5,000 million euros, according to the latest catalog published by Airbus and which does not reflect the reality of the transactions.
The first deliveries are scheduled for the spring of 2024 and the plane will be equipped with engines from the American Pratt & Whitney.
364 orders for Airbus at the end of June
“With our new A320neo and A321neo, we continue to grow our fleet and our business steadily, while respecting our requirement to enable responsible and comfortable travel with significantly lower CO2 emissions, significantly lower fuel consumption and less noise.” , according to Condor CEO Ralf Teckentrup, quoted in the press release.
Condor is already waiting for 7 long-haul A330s purchased from Airbus to replace its Boeing 767s.
If the European aircraft manufacturer only obtained 85 orders at the Farnborough Air Show (UK) last week, Airbus has been successful since the beginning of the year with 364 aircraft ordered until June 30, not counting a group mega order of 292 planes. for four Chinese companies.
Although they are just coming out of the Covid-19 pandemic, companies are preparing for the rebound in air traffic and are looking to acquire more modern planes that consume less fuel, one of their main spending items.
