After the Central Bank’s decision to launch a special regime to encourage the countryside to liquidate the crop and thus the government to get hold of the meager dollars, the industrialists shouted to the sky and even went out to ask for a special kind of change. for your business that is on the verge of collapse: the “PMI dollar”.
The president of Industriales Pymes Argentinos (IPA), Daniel Rosato, has invited the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) to establish a “Dollar-Pyme” with the goal of putting manufacturing plants that export on par with the benefits announced for the exchange rate settlement of the sector, since it warned that “the lack of global competitiveness of domestic firms is leaving the domestic industry on the verge of collapse”.
“We ask that the latest measure adopted by the Central Bank, aimed at ensuring that agriculture establishes its exports on a differentiated and very convenient dollar, is also applied to industrial SMEs, because it is unfair that factories cannot access that dollar, at a time when our sector is making a great effort to support exports, in some cases even at a loss “, said Rosato in a press release.
The IPA president added: “It is essential that the BCRA also recognize and benefit from itin the same way as the fieldto the entire SME sector of the national industry, whereas this sector generates added value and supports thousands and thousands of jobs, at a time when inflation causes more poverty and genuine employment is the only one that can help get out of the crisis ”.
Rosato underlined this the application of a “Dollar-Pyme will be very beneficial for the country, since the industry is also a generator of foreign currency “, and stated that the extension of the benefit to the manufacturing sector will allow the manufacturing activity “Become part of the program that will help the government overcome this complex economic situation.”
The IPA has made two central proposals to the government to compensate for the lack of dollars, which has generated restrictions on the allocation of foreign currency for the import of inputs from factories:
- Create an SME Dialogue Table, in which the sector is represented in the debate on urgent needs
- And the split exchange rate for industrial exports, so as to be able to respect contracts abroad.
“We want to be part of the solution to the problem, participate and demonstrate that SMEs can compete, export and generate the foreign currency the country needs. For this we agree that there must be more production, but let’s say that for this we must take care of all the dollars and allocate them to the generation of wealth for the country, ”said Rosato.
The IPA has requested the implementation of a “Foreign currency allocation strategy, where the priority is the companies that substitute importss of final products, supply the internal market and generate effective employment ”.
In this direction, Rosato proposed to “concentrate decisions in the production area of the government so that, although there are decisions shared by the entire economic cabinet, there is a ministry that takes measures based on dialogue with SMEs”.
