The debate promises to be very lively. But like the pension reform, the government seems determined to once again reform the unemployment insurance rules.
“We are still in a paradoxical situation”, explains Olivier Dussopt, Minister of Labour, Employment and Integration, on BFMTV. “France has an unemployment rate of 7.3% and every day we meet business leaders who have one main difficulty, which is hiring.”
Clearly, the project is therefore to find new rules with the idea of adjusting aid when the economy is strong and releasing ballast in the event of a bad run for French activity.
First, the government intends to extend the current rules, which are supposed to end on November 1.
“And once these rules have been expanded (…) we will obviously have a consultation with all the trade unions and professional organizations to see what the correct criteria are and how we can improve the effectiveness of unemployment insurance”, continues Olivier Dussopt, taking care of not putting firm proposals on the table.
