The recovery of traffic and the renewal needs of the airline fleet are a boon for aircraft manufacturers, and in particular for Airbus. The manufacturer also had a good first half with a steady number of deliveries despite an increasingly difficult environment.

Despite everything, Airbus had to lower the total number of deliveries for 2022 to 700 aircraft compared to the 720 planned. What upset the markets. In question, the deficiencies in ruins that affect the entire production chain and in particular the engine manufacturers.

26 aircraft completed but without engine

“Engine manufacturers are players that have deep and complex supply chains. They are in situations comparable to ours. And, in fact, they are behind in terms of engine delivery,” explains Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus on the set of Good morning business this Thursday.

Alongside the “global” problem of raw material supply and resource scarcity, Airbus recognizes “a very disturbed and very difficult environment, it is a systemic problem that will take time to resolve,” concludes Guillaume Faury.

Airbus shares fell almost 5% on the Paris Stock Exchange in early trading on Thursday. Since January 1, the stock has lost about 10% of its value.
