Summer promises to be positive for the tourism sector. Despite inflation, the French have not given up their holidays and foreign tourists are back.

A great summer for tourism. According to a first situation report, vacationers were numerous in July: if they spent a little less, they did not give up on leaving. An “exceptional” season, assured last Friday the France 2 the Delegate Minister of Tourism, Olivia Grégoire. According to figures from the ministry, the occupancy rate of campsites, for example, jumped 21% in July.

Despite inflation, more French people are going on holiday this year (10% more than usual), taking an average of 11 days off. The international clientele is also back, especially European. For example, on the Côte d’Azur, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez has never received so many foreign tourists.

Heat waves

Something to put a smile on the face of tourism professionals. Turnover rose between 10 and 25% in July compared to the same period last year for hotels and 2% for restaurateurs, according to data from the Observatory of the independent group. The only shadows on the board are the heat waves that slightly penalize the desire to consume and the lack of personnel that limits the activity.

The month of August should confirm the trend. According to PAP Vacances, the occupancy rate of seasonal rentals exceeds 80% during the first three weeks.
