The State takes stock of the 2022 tax declaration campaign. About 34.5 million fiscal households, 88%, declared their 2021 income online or automatically this year, according to the Ministry of Public Accounts in a statement.
The French have started receiving their tax notices in recent days. After the declaration, 37% of tax households had nothing to do (14.2 million). Instead, 10.7 million (28%) have a balance to pay. The State expects to receive 22,500 million euros in regularization in this way, or 2,103 euros on average.
Amounts that will be directly debited into the bank account of the affected households, between September and December, all at once if the amount is less than or equal to 300 euros, or in several direct debits if the amount is greater than 300 euros.
Situation that may arise when the tax rate is not up to date, due to a significant variation in income, or due to an excessive advance of tax reductions and credits in 2022.
€11.5 billion in reimbursement
But they are even more numerous waiting for a refund from the State, which will have to pay 11,500 million euros to 13.7 million tax households. These bank transfer payments began on July 21 and will end on August 2.
Users whose bank details are not available to the tax authorities will receive a check in the mail in the coming weeks. The tax authorities invite you to submit your updated bank details in order to receive refunds due by bank transfer more quickly in the future. An also more reliable payment method, specifies the General Directorate of Public Finance.
The ministry responsible for public accounts is pleased that remote reception is now widely used by users. With 4 million calls received, the telephone, which became predominant in 2020 during the health crisis, remained the preferred contact channel for users this year.
It is followed by electronic messaging, with almost 2.5 million emails received. However, around 2.2 million users preferred to go to the counter for help. A figure slightly higher than that of 2021, without returning to the level of 2019.
