The traffic of TGV and TER trains, interrupted on Tuesday afternoon in the Landes due to a fire, resumed this Wednesday morning after firefighters put out the fire during the night, indicated the SNCF and the prefecture.
The circulation of seven trains on the Bordeaux-Hendaye and Bordeaux-Dax-Tarbes lines was interrupted this Tuesday around 3:30 p.m., after a fire near the tracks in the town of Laluque, about twenty kilometers north of Dax.
Back to normal “before the morning is over”
According to the SNCF, traffic has “gradually resumed” since the start of the morning, with delays expected at the station’s departure, and should return to normal “before the end of the morning”. The fire, which destroyed 32 hectares of pine trees, was repaired overnight, the Landes prefecture and firefighters said on Wednesday.
At the height of the intervention, this fire mobilized two Canadairs, a Dash plane, about 170 firefighters and a dozen gendarmes, added the prefecture.
The Landes department entered red vigilance on Wednesday (level 4 of 5) due to the risk of forest fires, as did the other two departments that are home to the Landes de Gascogne forest, neighbors of Lot-et-Garonne and Gironde, classified in red since Monday.
