The Government made official this Thursday the call for the Minimum, vital and mobile wage commission and unemployment benefits do a revision of the amounts in force. The confirmation of the quote came in a context where inflation and the instability of the dollar price are affecting the pockets of workers and following the hiring of Sergio Massa as Minister of the Economy.

The meeting will be held virtually on August 18 at 10 am, as required by article 3 of Resolution 7/2022 published in the Official Gazette, signed by the head of the Ministry of Economy, Claudio Moroni.

According to the agenda, “the minimum, vital and mobile salary will be determined”, as well as “the minimum and maximum amounts of unemployment benefit”, within “the provisions of article 135, letter a) of Law no. . 24.013 and its modifications. “This implies, in other words, analyze the new increases taking into account the delicate situation of the country.

That same day, at 12 noon, the members of the National Council for Employment, Productivity and Minimum Wage, Vital and Mobile will meet, even remotely, to appoint two directors who will have the task of signing the minutes and, mainly , for “the examination of the issues raised in plenary by the Commission on the minimum, vital and mobile wage and unemployment benefit”.

What are the current amounts

The current amounts had been agreed on March 16 this year when it was established that the possibility to carry out a review in August, if necessary, was left open.

The official announcement came almost ten days later, on the 25th of that month, with a publication in the Official Gazette, in which it was stated that the increase would be applied in four tranches, all during this year 2022. In detail, it was decided to impose an increase of 18% from 1 April, 10% in June, 10% in August and 7% in December.

The first of these increases brought the minimum, vital and mobile (SMVM) wage to $ 38,940 for all monthly workers who work the full day of legal work, while the hour for day workers became $ 194.70. .

In June, meanwhile, the minimum wage rose to $ 42,240, while the hourly rate for day workers began to rise to $ 211.20. As of August 1, the salary is $ 45,540 and the hourly rate for day workers has reached $ 227.70.

By December, as planned, it was intended to complete the raise scheme with a minimum of $ 47,850 and an hourly rate for day workers of $ 239.30.

For its part, unemployment benefits also benefited from a gradual increase on that occasion. In April, the minimum amount was $ 10,817 and the maximum was $ 18,028. For June it was $ 11,733 and $ 19,556 respectively; while in August it reached $ 12,650 and $ 21,083. As of December, the stipulated unemployment minimum was $ 13,292 and $ 22,153.
