The management has decided to eliminate these 5 minutes of additional rest, claiming the end of the health protocol in the company.

Employees expected it, but the pill is still struggling to get through. As management announced at the end of June, employees at the Amazon warehouse in Lauwin-Planque (North) missed five minutes of break on August 1, reports the voice of the north.

These five minutes corresponded to the additional rest time granted by the management during the health crisis “to take into account the impact of prevention measures (in particular, longer and more restrictive traffic routes, one-way traffic and social distancing) in travel times. and thus make the movements of the employees more fluid”, recalled the management in a letter addressed to the employees.

But with the lifting of the social distancing obligation and more broadly of the health protocol in the company, these extra five minutes are no longer necessary, for the management that says it has chosen to “stagger the relief” of the various measures. launched during the pandemic.

“Regrettable”

For employees and unions, this reduction in break time is hard to accept while working conditions at Amazon are regularly highlighted:

“Voici la générosité légendaire d’Amazon envers ses salariés.. après avoir ‘offert’ pendant deux ans, 5 minutes de pause en plus, ils décident de les retirer le 31 juillet”, ironised on Facebook le syndicat Sud Amazon de Lauwin- Hiding place.

The same story from the Force Ouvrière side where we necessarily deplore this reduction in rest time: “On top of that, it’s a hassle to get real wage increases. (…) Given the heat, the measure could have been extended at least for the summer”. , explains Christophe Bocquet, FO delegate at Amazon, to La Voix du Nord.
