This new school holiday weekend promises to be a busy one on the roads of France. And it will surely be the occasion of a new attendance record for Blablacar, which expects a total of 300,000 passengers either by shared car or on board its coaches.
Regarding the last weekend of Easter, which marked another peak in reservations, Blablacar estimates that it will transport between 10 and 20% more passengers.
Average cost of a shared car on August 15: 28 euros
The company does not communicate the distinction between those who will travel by shared car and those who prefer to travel in a “Blablacar bus” (ex-Ouibus and Blablabus). We simply know that the passengers registered through the platform and the driver are counted as travelers in the carpooling part, but not their possible other passengers outside of Blablacar.
On the price side, the platform indicates that the average price of a shared car trip during this weekend will be 28 euros. Blablacar gives examples of average prices on the most popular routes: count 30 euros for a Paris-Lyon, Strasbourg-Annecy or Orleans-La Rochelle. For a Nantes-Bordeaux, the average price is 24 euros and 10 euros for a Lille-Brussels.
Seats still available
As for its long-distance coach offer, places were still available to nearly 200 destinations, again highlighting very competitive prices: Paris-Cabourg at 25 euros, Le Mans-Quiberon at 17 euros, Lyon-Marseille at 15 euros and Toulouse Bayonne at 20 euros. Prices recorded on Blablacar.fr this Wednesday August 10 for trips on Friday 12 or Saturday 13, specifies the platform.
Although it can be difficult to find a train ticket for a weekend like this at the last moment, Blablacar communicates in a still high number of available seats and also expects that almost one in two overnight trips will be booked with less than 48 hours in advance.
