So far, just over 56,000 doses have been liquidated, while criticism is mounting for the slow pace of the vaccination campaign.

Above all, don’t be helpless in the face of an uncontrollable epidemic. According to information from JDDThis Sunday, the State bought 1.5 million doses of the monkeypox vaccine from the Danish laboratory Bavarian Nordic.

In fact, the firm had announced on July 19 this request to an “undisclosed European country” which, therefore, turns out to be France, according to the JDD. The newspaper states that the Ministry of Health plans to vaccinate 10,000 to 15,000 people per week.

As of August 11, 2022 at 12 pm, 2,673 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been identified in France, according to Public Health France. On the vaccination side, Public Health France discarded and delivered 56,525 third-generation doses to the territories.

Vaccination was opened in July, initially in Paris, for people at risk, but the slow pace of the campaign has earned the government much criticism. This vaccine “can be used beyond its initial expiration date,” Public Health France responded, according to data from the Bavarian Nordic.

From the beginning of August it is also possible to get vaccinated in certain pharmacies.

The Imvanex vaccine is a third-generation smallpox vaccine licensed in Europe since 2013. It targets all forms of smallpox and must be administered in two doses.

Disappeared in France since the 1980s, smallpox is now considered a biological weapon, which is why the stock of vaccines is classified as a defense secret.
