Economist Javier Lindenboim, Clarín’s frequent columnist, died this Sunday
The economist and researcher on employment and development in Argentina, Javier Lindenboim is dead this Sunday to yours 71 years old.
This was confirmed in the afternoon by sources close to his family who did not provide details on the incident cause of his death.
Lindenboim served as Director of the Center for Studies on Population, Employment and Development (Ceped) of the University of Buenos Aires and had conducted important research on the poverty and work structurehe in the country, among other related topics.
Graduated in Political Economy from UBA, he devoted himself during his long career to teaching and to research: he was professor of Economics at his university and also at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Latin America, the National University of Tres de Febrero, the National University of Luján and the University of Mar del Plata.
Javier Lindenboim died this Sunday.
He has also been recognized as a popularizer and frequent commentator on the current economic situation and his research in various media such as Clarín, La Nación, Perfil and Infobae, among others.
In his latest publication in this newspaper, he questioned “the endless controversies at the top” that “led to another minister”, referring to the resignation of Martín Guzmán in early July.
As regards his research, he has also dealt with “socio-demographic development in large urban agglomerations”, “regulation and management of motorized public transport” and other dimensions of Argentina’s social segmentation.
On several occasions his works have been cited in surveys published by the Conicet in recent decades.
He has also been a member of multiple teaching colleges for postgraduate theses – masters and doctorates – as well as directing graduate theses for economics students at UBA.
The aforementioned faculty spoke about the news on their social networks and lamented his death in a post.
“Dear Community: With great sadness, we are sorry to report the recent death of Dr. Javier Lindenboim, who was Professor of National Accounting and Researcher and Director of CEPED at our university,” they wrote in a tweet.
Without highlighting his long career or his great merits, Lindenboim defined himself more simply on the internet: “Economist. Suffering fan of San Lorenzo. Three grandchildren. Teacher and researcher”, reads his Twitter profile again.
In one of his latest publications, he referred to the current situation in the country when, marked by the resignation of the former Minister of Economy and the appointment of Silvina Batakis as his successor, the economic crisis and the currency rush worsened.
“We are bad, but where are we going?” he had asked his followers about him. Along with the post, he attached a graph that he tried to answer the question.
