Renowned pharmaceutical entrepreneur Alberto Roemmers died this Sunday at the age of 95 after leading the workshop his father founded in 1921 for decades.
Roemmers, who made the family business one of the most important in Latin America, was one of the richest businessmen in the country, with a fortune that reached 2,400 million dollars.
According to a Forbes magazine ranking this year, Roemmers’ fortune is the fourth largest in the country, after Mercado Libre founder Marcos Galperín; by Paolo Rocca (Techint) and Gregorio Pérez Companc.
Thanks to his guide, Roemmers Laboratory led the pharmaceutical market nationally and the company expanded to Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Mexico.

Laboratorios Roemmers managed to concentrate over 13% of the local market thanks to the marketing of the best-selling drugs.
The love for sport and the legendary “Azzurra”
Alberto Roemmer he was fond of yachting and together with his sons he formed an emblematic team that led a competitive category all over the world. “Azzurra”, who led the TP52 Circuit for ten seasons, winning four editions: 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019 and a TP52 World Championship in 2012 (as ‘Matador’) and 2015.
In these ten seasons, the structure of the team formed by the Argentine world champion Guillermo Parada, skipper of the Azzurra, has remained practically unchanged. For this, he commented at the farewell that, “It has been a great honor to share these years with a team that is undoubtedly much greater than the sum of its individuals, who today can look back with pride at what has been. reached up”.
The first TP52 ‘Azzurra’ was launched in Cascais (Portugal) on May 17, 2011 and from that moment until 2020 the boat of the Argentine pharmaceutical magnate was one of the great protagonists of the World Circuit 52 Super Series.
