Fearing that Russia will turn off the gas tap in the middle of winter, Europe is preparing: the EU-27 agreed in July to reduce its gas consumption in a coordinated way. The agreement, which entered into force last week, foresees a 15% drop between August 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023, compared to the average of the last five years in the same period. “It is not an obligation, it is a recommendation,” stressed the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, a guest this Wednesday night on BFM Business.
