A family of four required $ 111,298 for not being poor. This was stated in the latest INDEC report on the Total Basic Food Basket in July, which showed an increase in 64.7% year on year and an increase of 6.8% in the last month. In addition, one family requested $ 49,466 not to go below the line poverty.

The total basic basket for an adult equivalent (the unit taken by the Indec) was $ 36,019. Meanwhile, the Basic Recycle Bin Food for the same unit reached $ 16.008reflecting an advance of the 6.3% compared to June. The year-over-year increase rises to 70.6%.

Meanwhile, interannual changes in CBA and CBT were 70.6% and 64.7%, respectively, according to the National Statistics Agency.

A few days ago, a report by the Center for Education, Services and Consumer Advice (CESyAC) was published, from which it emerged that a middle-class family who lives in the city of Buenos Aires needed $ 229,859.24 in July to meet all of her monthly expenses.

Of that amount, $ 64,526.16 (28%) was needed to purchase mass consumer products and $ 165,333.08 (72%) to contract basic household services.

The CESyAC report reflects the consumption that a typical family can have: a married couple with two children of school age who lives in the Buenos Aires area. The survey includes, among other items, the rent of a house, the costs of a 10-year-old car, the prepaid medicine subscription, the tuition for a private school for two children and the family subscription in a club.

INDEC and wholesale prices

The overall level of Internal Wholesale Price Index (IPIM) registered to increase of 7.1% in July of 2022 compared to the previous month, INDEC reported this Wednesday.

This change is a consequence of the 7.0% increase in “National Products” and the 8.6% in “Imported products“.

On the other hand, the general level of Wholesale Basic Domestic Price Index (IPIB) showed an increase of 6.7% over the same period. In this case, the variation is explained by the 6.5% increase in “National Products” and 8.6% in “Imported Products”.

In addition, the general level of Basic Producer Price Index (PPI) in the same period it recorded an increase of 5.9%, as a consequence of the 1.8% increase in “Primary products” and 7.6% in “Manufactures and electricity”.
