Seven out of ten Argentine employers have a hard time finding the candidates they need. According to ManpowerGroup’s latest global talent shortage survey, this is the biggest shortage of the last 10 years in our country.

Not surprisingly, among the most difficult positions to fill there are those of information technology and data. But in addition, employers say they have difficulty finding profiles with the necessary mix of technical knowledge and “transversal” skills.

“Organizations need to partner with the education system and the government to narrow the gap and orienting training towards the demands of the labor market”, Says Luis Guastini, general manager of ManpowerGroup Argentina.

In this context, some large companies develop programs to train and / or incorporate the young talent they need. Here, three calls in progress.

national tour

The Techint Group began a nationwide tour to incorporate young professionals and interns. The “tour” will touch the universities of the province of Buenos Aires, Tucumán, Santa Fe, Córdoba, San Juan, Mendoza, Chubut and Neuquén. What they are looking for are recent graduates for the Young Professionals Programs (JP) and students for the Summer training internships (PEV).

To apply, you must have at least 50% of the subjects approved by one of the following careers: Industrial, Electrical, Electronics, Materials, Oil, Mechanics, Mechatronics or Electromechanics, Chemistry, Systems Engineering; Business Administration and Accountant.

In this call, which will last until November 30, the company will select at least 400 young people for the various companies of the Techint Group. For those who live far from the company headquarters, the proposal includes a moving package that includes food, transport and per diem.

Both initiatives are part of the career plan of the Group’s teams, which includes different programs for all levels of the organization. In recent months, more than 500 young people have entered these programs, 42% of whom are women.

The Summer training internships They last three months, from January to March, and are paid. During the course, candidates carry out a specific project with tasks and responsibilities, accompanied by a tutor. The goal is to complete their academic training. This year, over 50% of participants continued to work indefinitely.

The Young Professionals Program, aimed at recent graduates or students in the last year of studies, offers effective integration. Participants receive training, network with colleagues from around the world and rotate areas to have a global view of the company. Over 50% of the Group’s senior management in Argentina entered through this program.

To apply, students must go to careers.techint.com, filter for the keyword “PEV” or “JP” and select the location where they wish to apply. Once applied, and if the profile matches the requirements, the company will contact you to start the selection process.

7,000 interns

Unilever’s “Únicxs” program will include 7,000 undergraduate students from across the country as interns. Participants will be able to make their own first work experience in areas such as Finance, Digital, IT, Marketing, Research and Development, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Sales and Jobs.

The searches are targeted students of the last 2 years, which have time availability of 20 hours per week. It is “a hybrid experience that allows them to be part of a process of knowledge, fun and growth, based on their interests, and to work on impactful projects from day one,” says Melina Cao, Human Resources Director at Unilever Argentina.

During the candidate selection process, the emphasis will be on characteristics such as autonomy, proactivity, organization and good interpersonal relationships.

To promote the program, Unilever human resources leaders will visit several universities in the provinces of Tucumán, Salta, Mendoza, Córdoba and Santa Fe and train young people for their job searches. Applicants must register through the Talent Company by 4 September 2022.
