The rise in energy prices forced a new player in the sector to suspend its activity. On this occasion, it was the Spanish electricity company Iberdrola that announced the termination of the contracts with its thousands of French customers.
“A few thousand” contracts would be affected, said an Iberdrola spokesman, without giving further details. But according to estimates, the Spanish group would have between 400,000 and 500,000 private customers in France.
Iberdrola does not leave France
If Iberdrola suspends its activity in France, it will not abandon the tricolor market: “We do not want to automatically renew contracts with existing customers, because many of them would be seriously affected. It is better that they opt for the regulated rate in France,” the vendor spokesperson.
A few months earlier, E.Leclerc Energie had stopped supplying electricity to its customers.
