After the “anti-inflation shield” of E.Leclerc, Carrefour draws in turn a new operation to attract customers to its stores. The brand has announced the blocking of the prices of 100 “everyday” products from Monday, August 22 for “100 days”, that is, until November 30. The operation will be “rolled out in all its stores in France, all formats combined as in Carrefour.fr”, specifies the press release.
Strawberry jam, minced fillets, puff pastry, dishwasher, baby diapers… Food and non-food products are part of the list of products affected by the operation; the brand does not specify how these products were selected. There are no big national brands, yes: the products whose prices Carrefour will block for the next three months are all own brands.
double digit increases
On supermarket shelves, more and more food items are showing double-digit price increases. Apart from pork, all meats have exceeded the symbolic 10% mark, according to the latest INSEE estimate, while the price of pasta has risen more than 16% in one year and flour more than 18%. According to INSEE, the rise in consumer prices in France accelerated in July, reaching 6.1% per year.
