The British airline British Airways will cut 10,000 more flights from Heathrow until the end of March, following an extension of limits introduced by London airport.
The company is adjusting its short-haul schedule through the end of March, cutting its flight plans by about 5,000 round trips, or a total of 10,000 flights, it confirmed on Monday. It will feature its schedule of 290 daily round trips from Heathrow, its main base, this winter.
Reassignment to another flight
Affected passengers will be offered reassignment to another competing airline or flight or a refund.
Given the flight cancellations that it had already announced, British Airways indicates that its capacity is thus reduced by 13% for the period from May to October. The company also temporarily suspended ticket sales for its short flights at Heathrow in early August. It also specifies that its flight capacity is reduced by 8% for this winter with the announced adjustments.
Heathrow, the main British “hub”, announced last week that it would extend until the end of October a limitation on the number of outgoing passengers initially planned until the beginning of September, due to the shortage of workers and to avoid chaos at the airports. .
