Although they have not escaped the strong and long-lasting rise in prices, nannies and childminders at home have increased their costs to a lesser extent.

Child minders and home guards pour water into their wine. Unlike many industries, child care does not raise prices in line with inflation. This is the main lesson of the annual barometer of Yoopies, the home services company of the Worklife group.

A more marked increase in prices in the coming months

Although inflation reached 6.1% annually in July, the increase in the hourly cost of home care is slightly less than 3% in the same period. On average, a French household must pay 9.70 euros per hour to access this service, that is, an increase of 28 cents per hour compared to 2021.

The rate increase is even more contained for child carers as it does not even exceed 2% in a year. The latter now charge 3.69 euros per hour on average compared to 3.62 euros last year.

Paris and PACA regions have the highest prices

On the other hand, these averages hide disparities from one French region to another. Childminders in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur charge the highest prices, with an hourly rate of €4.25. Prices are lowest in Normandy at 3.38 euros per hour, closely followed by Pays de la Loire (3.39 euros per hour) but where the evolution in one year is strongest in France with growth of 2.73%.

The geographical distribution is slightly different for the home garden because it is in Île-de-France that the rates in the matière are the plus hauts avec 9.79 euros de l’heure contre 9.24 euros dans les Hauts-de -France. The most marked increase in this cost is found in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, where it is close to 5% per year.
