The revaluation of 50% of the minimum alimony, promised by Emmanuel Macron to support single mothers, will take place “from November”, according to the roadmap of the Ministry of Solidarity, released after the government seminar on Wednesday.
The candidate for president promised in the spring to “support the income of single-parent families, increasing the amount of the minimum child support by 50%”, from 116 to 174 euros per child per month. This will be done “from November 2022”, the government assures, in a document that details the “major projects” of each ministry, including Solidarity.
Supplement small pensions
This sum corresponds to the minimum amount paid by the Family Allowances Fund, either to supplement small pensions, or in the event of non-payment by the debtor parent. During the presidential campaign, the Institut Montaigne had estimated the cost of this measure at 900 million euros per year, based on an expenditure of 1,800 million in 2020 for more than 800,000 beneficiaries.
