The executive director of Lidl France details in BFM Business the energy saving measures that the brand intends to take. In particular, he is willing to reduce his opening hours.

Power bills are set to skyrocket at big retailers in 2023. While wholesale electricity prices hit a record high last week of €1,000 per megawatt hour, the coming year is likely to be a very painful one for retailers.

This was explained by Michel Biero, executive director of Lidl in France. A guest on BFM Business, the discount store spokesperson revealed the cost of his store’s electricity bills.

Rises that concern the entire sector, which asks the State to urgently regulate rates so as not to have to transfer the rise to sales prices.

To limit this cost inflation, Lidl assures that it will have to accelerate its energy sobriety policy.

But Lidl will go even further in the coming weeks with energy constraints looming.

Lidl will not take the initiative just for this energetic “curfew”. The brands will collectively decide on such measures in the coming weeks.
